the client wanted a social garden that could be used all year round. a major design element was to create screening for some new houses that have been built behind their garden, which is the main focal point from the house.
plans for an extension meant a change to the initial design, which was subsequently put on hold due to the building works. during the build some new challenges were created concerning the outside space, but once the extension was finally complete we returned to solve these design issues and plant up the garden. the result is a clean simple space ready for the summer.
the planting is simple and fragrant, including:
Photinia fraseri, Phyllostachys aurea, Olea Europa, Rosemarinus officianalis, Lavandula augustifolia, Festuca glauca, Argyranthemum, Thymus citriodorus, various Euphorbia and Cytisus.
comments from the client:
'Sarah, I will always be thankful for your great ideas, your design and patience to redesign our garden given our building challenges. Our back garden now looks like a modern, clean and simple but impressive social space. Its very impressive and admired by all our visitors.'
